Please submit to these folks. They are doing a great thing. And they have a press. And other services. And when you publish with them, you get a lot of hits. A LOT.
I also got another acceptance. I think. The fiction editor had already rejected my story and asked me to submit some more, which I did. Then, last night I heard from the guest editor who loves the story and wants to publish it. I really hope this pans out. The story is brilliant. I've been trying to get it published for ten years or there abouts. It's one of my raw raw raw pieces, the kind of thing lots of journals will not touch. Cross you fingers for me.
I submitted all creative nonfiction though I was told that you could submit a mixture. I emailed and called them several times to be sure of things. But things still weren't straightforward. The form says to check ONE box, but allows you to click two. So I just checked CNF and called it a day, And submitted all CNF. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Now I'm in that frustrating period where I'm waiting on a couple of folks to read my manuscript. My instinct is to just go ahead and send it to the agent. But that would be stupid? Wouldn't it? Seeing as how Dale has not gotten round to it, I may just ask somebody else. But I know it is a big thing to ask of anyone. Maybe I should find someone who does this for a living though I tend not to trust such people.
I dickered with the idea of cementing a chapbook yesterday. Then ran into file retrieval difficulty. And had a session with Dale about my current difficulties. And learned some things I think I've already forgotten. And it boils down to this--sometimes I need to use a freaking pen and paper and my resistance is alarming and complete. I need to suck it up. At least during my training session I remained calm and was able to stay on task for fifteen minutes.
As is the case always the case with me, I have not written anything new in a couple of weeks. Actually, that is probably wrong. It just feels like two weeks. I was writing at least an essay a day. And editing and rewriting and thinking brain on writing thinking.
Today I may do some writing but it feels unlikely. Most likely will spend the day reading.
