I also need to show them examples of worship work other than my own stuff. I always go straight to my own stuff, not because I'm vain, but because I know it well and it's right at hand. But I know of at least a couple things I will include.
Worked on this site last night and did submissions as well. Am going to do more submissions today.
Still no luck on settling on a thing I would call a book a novel something a collection to bear down on and push out out. Haven't been reading. I did read an entire long article in Harper's on Tuesday, which is quite a thing for me. Stabbed at a memoir I read in the past and have wanted to read again. I always run back to nonfiction. So hard to settle in with fiction.
Discovered some new journals on Poets & Writers' list, which is what I generally use now. Posit, Poetry Kanto, Puritan. Pinch. Memorious. I tend to work in one area of the alpha list. Doing M-P right now.
Trying to strong arm the editor at The Awl to read a piece. I pitched him. He said no. Then I said you really oughta. Then he said okay if you insist. The Awl is da bomb. I will get in that magazine. Come high flood mud undertow. I will get in.
But I don't know how to pitch. A softball. A baseball. Or an idea. How does one pitch an idea of a thing? It's like that elusive proposal. That awful outline. How can you outline a thing before you write it build it? How can you make yourself your idea your thing that thing in your head condense it like an ad how can you do that? I read about how to write a good hooking synopsis for novels eye catching the ear all that. But there's something so false weird strange not me really about doing it.
So I will prepare now. Here's to a good day. Lots of sun. Very cold here, but lots of sun.
